About Me

I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with over 25 years of professional experience. My background includes decades in pastoral ministry, as well as advanced training in psychoanalytic and relational psychotherapy. I am certified in Post-Induction Therapy through The Meadows under Pia Mellody, with specialization in developmental trauma, shame, and co-dependency. In September 2024, I transitioned from pastoral ministry to establish a private solo practice.

I work with people of all ages, and I specialize in working with adults who are thoughtful, often high-functioning, and inwardly aware, yet feel stuck despite insight and effort. Many are seeking more than symptom management—they want to understand why they struggle and how to live with greater freedom, authenticity, and meaning.

My Approach

I believe we are all born valuable, vulnerable, and whole. When early experiences are supportive, that wholeness can unfold naturally. When they are not—when there is developmental trauma, emotional misattunement, or chronic stress—we adapt in order to survive. Over time, those adaptations can begin to shape how we see ourselves, how we relate to others, and how we move through the world.

Many people come to therapy because of symptoms: anxiety, shame, emotional reactivity, addiction, or recurring relational struggles. While these symptoms can feel confusing or frustrating, I understand them as meaningful responses to earlier experiences. They are not signs of failure, but evidence of how the nervous system learned to protect you.

My work focuses on helping people understand and gently loosen these protective patterns. Using a psychoanalytic and relational approach, informed by Post-Induction Therapy (PIT), we explore how developmental trauma can disrupt self-worth, boundaries, and connection. As these patterns are brought into awareness and met with compassion, they no longer have to run your life.

Therapy with me is not about fixing what is broken. It is about remembering who you were before you had to protect yourself so carefully. Our work unfolds at a pace that respects your history, your defenses, and your capacity for change. I strive to offer a steady, compassionate presence where your experience is taken seriously and deeper understanding can emerge.

Healing, in my view, is less about becoming someone new and more about reconnecting with what has always been there.

Education and Training

I hold a BA in Philosophy from the University of Washington and a Master of Divinity from Western Seminary. My work is informed by advanced psychoanalytic training and specialization in developmental trauma, shame, and co-dependency.

Scope of Services

I offer both clinical and non-clinical services. Below is a description of each:

Clinical Counseling Services

As a licensed mental health counselor in the state of Washington, I offer clinical counseling services to individuals seeking support for mental health concerns such as anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, and other emotional or psychological challenges. These services fall within the scope of licensed mental health treatment and are provided in accordance with state law, professional ethical standards, and confidentiality requirements.

Clinical counseling may be eligible for insurance reimbursement, depending on your insurance plan and coverage. Upon request, I can provide statements of service (often referred to as "superbills") for clients who wish to seek out-of-network reimbursement from their insurance provider.

Non-Clinical Consulting Services

In addition to clinical work, I offer non-clinical consulting services focused on personal development, relational support, life transitions, leadership, and faith-informed guidance. These services are designed to support overall well-being and growth but do not involve the diagnosis or treatment of mental health conditions.

Consulting sessions are not considered psychotherapy and are not eligible for insurance reimbursement. Because these services fall outside the scope of clinical mental health care, I cannot provide a statement of services (superbill) for insurance purposes. Payment for consulting services is the responsibility of the client.

My non-clinical consulting work draws from over 25 years of experience in ministry, pastoral care, and mentoring. It is reflective, supportive, and growth-oriented, but it is not a substitute for mental health counseling.
